Supporting New Families

I am an integrative psychotherapist (body, mind and soul support) and a mom of an 8 year old boy. I have been practicing therapy for 12 years and I love supporting new families. Becoming a parent, as I imagine you know, is one of the most incredible and challenging times in our lives. I have had many clients who are on the cusp of becoming parents, or are home with their babies or children. I offer short term and ongoing depth therapy for families in this phase of life.

Becoming a mother or a father, as magical and profound as it is, can be full of incredible challenges. During the first year and beyond of parenting, it is normal to experience isolation, depression, confusion, identity crises, loneliness, anxiety and big relationship stresses. Often it is difficult to share the depth of some of these challenges with friends or family.

I create a space for my clients to share some of the more gritty parts of becoming a parent and to feel supported through it. The time we spend together is for her(him) to drink deep of being supported and not feeling like she has to hold it together. I help new moms or dads navigate this rocky terrain and come out stronger, wiser and more powerful, as a person and a parent!

For individual clients, I welcome their babies to come to our sessions. My office is downtown, so sometimes we go on stroller walks which can be easier than in the office, depending on how old her baby is and what the content of our sessions are.

warmly,
Elaine
